Commodore VIC-20 Repairs

Commodore VIC-20 Repairs
Is your Commodore sick? Do you get a black screen when you turn on your trusty VIC? It's probably not dead - just needs a bit of T.L.C. (and a new RAM chip or two).
When we fix the machine, we also change the electrolytic capacitors and heatsink the CPU and VIC where necessary as part of the service, at no extra cost. We use high quality parts such as Vishay and Panasonic capacitors.
Please note that occasionally we will need to charge extra for hard-to-find rare parts (particularly the VIC-1 chip) - these cost an £20 each but it's very unusual for more than one part to need replacing. We can also repair the machine without extra charge or the replacement chip, if you wish to source your own parts instead.
In the case where we can't repair your machine (it's possible!) we won't charge anything for the time taken to look at it, so we'll refund your payment minus our postage costs.

Simply buy this item on the shop and we'll contact you with the address to send it to.

Please note we don't currently offer cosmetic refurbishments for Commodore computers.

Important things to bear in mind when sending us your computer:

  • Take care when packaging your computer. Ensure the contents are well protected and the parcel is secured. Parcels can be treated roughly on their journey - we are not able to replace items damaged or lost during transit. It's always best to assume the courier will be playing footie with your parcel and wrap accordingly.
  • We ask that if at all possible, computers to be sent NOT in their original packaging. We have 50+ computers in our workshop at any one time and keeping their original boxes isn't practical due to space shortage (we work from home).
  • If you feel confident opening the computer, sending us the motherboard only is preferred. This will not only keep the postage costs low but you will avoid the risk of having the case damaged during transit.
  • Last but not least: Always remember to include your name on or inside the parcel. Not being able to identify a machine can present a problem as we often have several identical computers in our workshop at a time.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE: THE SHIPPING COSTS OF YOUR VIC BACK TO YOU WILL BE REVISED IN THE FINAL INVOICE.
