Sinclair ZX Spectrum Repair! (16K, 48K, 48K+)
Please be advised there is a limit of 2 machines per customer at a time.

We can repair your sick Spectrum!
Keyboard not working? Black screen on start-up? Programs crash? Flashing squares? Corrupt text? Whatever the problem, we can fix it!

If you want us to repair your Spectrum, simply buy one of these "items" and we'll get back to you with instructions on what to do next. Before long it'll be back with you fully working!
Average turnaround takes 4-6 weeks but we appreciate your patience at busy times.

We charge just £49.99 + parts (if any required) for a guaranteed repair of your Spectrum. We have all the special parts needed in stock (ULAs, CPUs, RAM etc.). For smaller parts (RAM chips and the like) we have no charge, and for the major parts except the ULA we charge £10.00 per part up to a maximum of £25.00.

We only use high-quality components, and always use parts as close to the originals as possible. In nearly all cases we use brand new-old-stock parts or newly manufactured components - not pulls from other machines; so that we can resurrect your Spectrum without sacrificing another.

In addition to fixing the fault we also service the motherboard, including the following:

  • Improving display on modern LCD TVs by installing Composite modification - crispier picture with no need for tuning.
IMPORTANT: Early motherboard revisions - issue 1 and 2 - may require manual calibration on the circuit inside the case to stabilise the picture quality depending on your TV.
Tip : Consider this feature if you don't like tinkering with electronics. When buying a ZX Spectrum 16K/48K, choose issue 3 or above if you prefer to "plug-in and go".

  • Replacing all electrolytic capacitors with brand new high quality blue Vishay capacitors which match the look of original parts perfectly. Electrolytic capacitors degrade over time in a Spectrum, it is recommended to replace them every 20-30 years as a preventative measure

  • Protecting the ULA chip (Spectrum's heart) from heat stress by installing a heatsink to prolong the lifespan of the machine.

  • Cleaning the Edge Connector and ensuring compatibility with divMMC Future).

The Repaired Spectrum will be covered by our 1 Year Warranty.

If you suspect your power supply may be at fault or are unsure about its condition please include it with the Spectrum for us to check. Damage caused by incorrect or faulty/unchecked power supplies isn't covered by the warranty.

PLEASE NOTE This service does not include any cosmetic improvements, however you may upgrade for an extra £20 and we'll treat your Speccy to our Refurbishment Service in addition to the Repair Service.

Important things to bear in mind when sending us your computer:

  • Take care when packaging your computer. Ensure the contents are well protected and the parcel is secured. Parcels can be treated roughly on their journey - we are not able to replace items damaged or lost during transit. It's always best to assume the courier will be playing footie with your parcel and wrap accordingly.
  • We ask that if at all possible, computers to be sent NOT in their original packaging. We have 50+ computers in our workshop at any one time and keeping their original boxes isn't practical due to space shortage (we work from home).
  • Last but not least: Always remember to include your name on or inside the parcel. Not being able to identify a machine can present a problem as we often have several identical computers in our workshop at a time.

    INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE
The shipping costs of your Spectrum back to you will be revised in the final invoice.
